Small Steps Towards Serving in 2013-Part 2

In the last post, I talked about continuing to consider in 2013 what our hearts break for.  I say “continuing” because the group I spoke to went through the same Bible Study that I did in the Fall of 2012.  It was a study on Nehemiah with the theme being what breaks our hearts?  Or said differently, How can we serve others based on where God has broken our hearts for others?I mentioned this idea of Mind-Mapping.  It’s a tool you can use if you aren’t quite sure what your heart breaks for.photo-10Here is what I’d like for you to do:Step one:  Think through the life events you’ve experienced that have changed who you are.  Write them down on a piece of paper or in your journal and circle them.  All the while, consider how God could use them to serve others.Step two:  As you think through each big event, answer the following question:  How can I serve others based on what I have been through?Keep this handy, out on the counter or if you are daring enough, on the fridge; a place where at least you will see it.  Ideas may pop into your head as you go about your day.  This doesn’t have to be complex, make it fun!Tomorrow I will give you a couple of personal examples based on my mind-map!
